Supposedly (and depending on the model), you actually get 2 GPUs compared to regular high-end laptops with one GTX970M/980M (though I doubt it’ll help much) and you also have an option to have up to THREE mSATA SSDs in Raid 0 (cringe) on top of a 1TB drive. More and more details in the link, but I might replace the Lenovo soon.

Clevo and Compal used to literally make “notebooks” that had desktop grade CPUs and SLI’d GPUs in them.
They were notebooks in only the most fundamental of ways, in that they could be operated without being plugged into the wall and they had a screen attached to the keyboard. But their battery lifetimes were more equivalent to having a UPS than a truly portable notebook.

Also, this seems like just gross excess compared to having the Y50 + a decent desktop. Do people really do hard core gaming on the fly?

I actually wonder if it would be easier to use a remote desktop client on a laptop and have your PC do all the hard work, than it would be to run a dual GPU laptop...

Sadly, for me, I need to. I’m never at home more to enjoy my desktop. :c
And my desktop is in pieces.

Oh man, I feel you there.
I wonder if it would be cheaper and easier to run a remote desktop client and stream your desktop to your laptop than it would be to have a $2.5k gaming laptop.

I’m tempted to try that out, as soon as I can get the desktop up and running. Most of the time, I’m basically diverting most, if not all of the workload to my Y50.

I’ve used those a few times, and I feel like the response times and image quality aren’t nearly good enough. Maybe some of the specialized services are better, though.
